Le Marais is one of Paris's most enchanting and historic districts, renowned for its blend of old-world charm and vibrant modernity. This painting was born in the quiet streets of Le Marais, where time seems layered with memory. As I stood before this weathered doorway, crowned by a balcony of vivid red flowers, I felt a profound sense of return. This quarter of Paris carries the echoes of my French Huguenot ancestors, who once walked similar streets before fleeing persecution in the late seventeenth century, around 1688. Their journey to the Cape of Good Hope began here. Painting this scene became more than observation; it was an act of remembrance, a spiritual bridge between past and present.

Created from lived encounters within the African landscape, each work seeks to capture atmosphere, memory and emotional presence rather than mere representation.

Larger editions create a quiet yet commanding presence across lodge suites, executive offices, boardrooms and collector interiors.
