THE STORY BEHIND THE PAINTING
During a 10-day expedition to Chobe National Park in Botswana, I experienced a moment I will never forget. The bush had fallen silent. Birds stopped calling. Animals stood alert. Then he appeared.
A magnificent male lion emerged from the dust and walked with absolute confidence toward a nearby waterhole. His golden mane glowed in the midday sun as he approached. For a brief moment, he stopped and looked directly at me. The encounter lasted only minutes, yet it left a lasting impression that inspired this painting.
The King of Chobe was created to honour that unforgettable moment and the timeless power of Africa's King.
